You can always learn something new, which is why BREEDBEELD organizes the following master classes and workshops at the Short Film Festival. We invite some professionals to come and speak about their profession, provide useful tools and talk to each other.

The masterclasses will be held in Dutch, unless a majority of participants doesn't speak Dutch as a native language. This will be decided upon closing of the inscriptions.
CASTING

How do you find the right actor for your character? Do you want to work with unknown talent or how do you approach a professional actor? In this master class, casting director explains Magali Coremans you everything about the ins and outs of the casting process. Magali was responsible for the casting of 'Holly' by Fien Troch. Cathalina Geeraerts, for whom it was her very first role, won the press prize for best acting performance at the last Venice Film Festival.

DOCUMENTARY
BY CAMILLE GHEKIERE

How do you start a (creative) documentary? How do you recognize a good character or subject? How do you write a scenario for reality? And how can you give that reality a creative twist to achieve really strong cinema? This workshop, by Camille Ghekiere, wants to take you on a discovery of the possibilities of creative documentary and wants to offer you guidance in developing such a documentary.

CINEMATOGRAPHY

This masterclass aims to introduce filmmakers, (future) cinematographers and a broader audience to the cinematography of Grimm Vandekerckhove. Based on three short films you will become:immersed in narratively very diverse atmospheres, but in which you can visually discover a common thread. How can you approach cinematography differently? And how do you develop a view that goes beyond the classic registration of action?
